Troubleshooting
▼
If notifications stop working, follow these steps in order:
1. Check phone-level permissions Go to your phone's Settings → Apps → Bhakti Sakha (or your browser app). Make sure Notifications are turned ON. Enable "Show on Lock Screen" and "Allow Sound" if available.
2. Re-enable notifications in the app Open Settings → Notifications inside the app. Tap Disable, wait 2 seconds, then tap Enable again. This refreshes your push token with the server.
3. Check your internet connection Notifications require an active internet connection to be received. Try switching between WiFi and mobile data to test.
4. Disable battery optimization (Android) Go to phone Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization. Find Bhakti Sakha (or your browser) and set it to "Don't optimize". Some phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO) have aggressive battery savers that kill background notifications.
5. Clear app cache (if still not working) Go to phone Settings → Apps → Bhakti Sakha → Storage. Tap "Clear Cache" (NOT "Clear Data"). Reopen the app and re-enable notifications.
6. Reinstall the app If nothing else works, remove the app from your home screen and re-add it. On Android: Open in Chrome → Menu → "Add to Home Screen". On iOS: Open in Safari → Share → "Add to Home Screen". Then re-enable notifications from Settings.
If the issue persists, contact us at bhaktisakhaapp@gmail.com with your device model and Android/iOS version.

How to copy / paste / edit Lyrics
Verse numbering
Put (1) on its own line, then type the verse text on the next line.
Continue with (2), (3), etc. for each new verse.
Leave a blank line between verses for clean separation.
No verse numbers?
Just paste/type the full text with no (N) markers — it will display as a single pill without any number badge.
Pasting from a source
Paste the full text, then manually add (1), (2)… before each verse.
Use the ✕ button in the toolbar to strip any unwanted formatting from the pasted text.
Do not use 1. or 1) — only the (N) format with brackets on both sides is recognised.
▶
How to copy / paste / edit Translation
Verse numbering
Use (1), (2)… — exactly the same format as Lyrics above — so verse numbers match.
Put the number marker on its own line, then the translation text on the next line.
No verse numbers?
Leave out all (N) markers — the full translation will display as one pill with no number badge.
Pasting from a source
Paste the full translation text, then add (1), (2)… before each verse meaning.
Use the ✕ button in the toolbar to clear any unwanted pasted formatting.
Only (N) with brackets on both sides is recognised — formats like 1. or 1) will not create separate pills.

Purusottama Masa
The Most Auspicious Month
What is Purusottama Masa?
The Vedic lunar calendar has approximately 354 days — 11 days shorter than the solar year. To keep the lunar and solar calendars aligned, an extra month is added approximately every 32-33 months. This extra month is known by various names: Adhika Masa ("extra month"), Mala Masa ("impure month"), or most importantly, Purusottama Masa — the month of the Supreme Person.
When the demigods refused to preside over this "extra" month, considering it inauspicious, Lord Sri Krishna — Purusottama, the Supreme Personality of Godhead — personally accepted it as His own month, transforming it into the most sacred and auspicious period in the entire Vedic calendar.
"This extra month is most dear to Me. One who observes vows, performs worship, and engages in devotional service during this month receives unlimited spiritual merit."
— Sri Krishna to Arjuna, Padma Purana, Uttara Khanda
Spiritual Significance
Purusottama Masa is considered even more potent than Kartik month for spiritual advancement. Any devotional activity — chanting, reading scriptures, performing austerities, giving charity — yields results multiplied thousands of times compared to ordinary months.
It is said that the merit one obtains from bathing in all holy rivers, performing all sacrifices, and giving all charities during all the months of many lifetimes, can be achieved by worshipping Lord Purusottama during this single month.
"One who fasts, worships, and chants the holy names during Purusottama Masa attains the supreme abode of Lord Vishnu, which is very difficult to achieve even by great yogis and sages."
— Narada Purana
Recommended Practices
📿
Increase japa — chant extra rounds of the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra
Even one extra round daily yields immense benefit
📖
Daily reading of Srimad Bhagavatam or Bhagavad Gita
Especially the pastimes of Lord Krishna
🕯️
Offer ghee lamps (deep daan) to Lord Vishnu daily
Especially in the evening during sandhya arati
🙏
Perform charity and selfless service (seva)
Feeding devotees, supporting temples, helping the needy
🎶
Attend or organize extra kirtan and bhajan sessions
Congregational chanting is especially powerful this month
🍲
Observe fasting or eat simply — once a day, sattvic food
Some devotees follow Ekadashi-like fasting throughout
🛁
Rise early, bathe before sunrise, offer tulasi to the Lord
Brahma-muhurta is especially auspicious during this month
🌿
Worship with tulasi leaves and offer tulasi garlands
Tulasi is most dear to Lord Purusottama
🚫
Avoid material ceremonies — no marriages, grihapravesh etc.
This month is exclusively for spiritual advancement
What Makes This Month Special
Unlike regular months presided over by various demigods, Purusottama Masa is directly under the shelter of Lord Sri Krishna. Therefore:
✦
All devotional activities bear fruit multiplied thousands of times
✦
Past sins are destroyed and one develops pure devotion
✦
Lord Krishna personally accepts the worship offered this month
✦
It is the easiest path to attain love of Godhead (prema)
✦
Even unknowing observance brings tremendous spiritual benefit
"O Arjuna, one who follows the vow of Purusottama Masa with faith and devotion is freed from the cycle of birth and death and returns to My eternal abode, from which there is no return."
— Lord Krishna, Padma Purana
Historical Context
The concept of Adhika Masa has been part of Vedic astronomy (Jyotish Shastra) for thousands of years. The great acharyas — including Srila Sanatana Gosvami and Srila Rupa Gosvami — observed this month with great reverence in Vrindavan. Srila Prabhupada also encouraged devotees to take advantage of this spiritually potent period.
This month appears approximately every 2.5 to 3 years. It takes the name of the month it precedes — for instance, if it appears before Jyestha, it is called "Adhika Jyestha" — but its spiritual character is always that of Purusottama Masa, the month of the Supreme Lord.
